Which stove is best for you?
All stoves in the Leeds area which are capable of burning wood need to be Defra approved, this applies to both wood burning or multi fuel stoves.
A would burning stove will only burn wood and it would be almost impossible to successfully burn smokeless fuel. If you have an endless supply of dry wood we would suggest a wood burning stove.
If you burn wood on a multifuel stove the wood will be consumed far faster because the air comes from under the grate on a multifuel stove – to burn wood efficiently the air should mix with the wood from the above, as in the case of a true wood burner. Smokeless fuel needs air to mix from both above and below to burn efficiently
If you do not have an endless supply of dry wood then we recommend opting for a wood burning stove to which a multifuel grate can be added to at any stage. This can be added/removed at any time depending on the fuel you have available.
